    Bungie and Activision Announce Exclusive, Worldwide Partnership

    10-Year Alliance Expands Global Reach for Leading Game Developer Across Multiple Platforms

    KIRKLAND, Wash. and SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 29, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX News Network/ -- Bungie, the developer of blockbuster game franchises including Halo, Myth and Marathon, and Activision, a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, the #1 online games publisher (Nasdaq: ATVI), announced today that they have entered into an exclusive 10-year partnership to bring Bungie's next big action game universe to market. Under the terms of the agreement, Activision will have exclusive, worldwide rights to publish and distribute all future Bungie games based on the new intellectual property on multiple platforms and devices. Bungie remains an independent company and will continue to own their intellectual property. Additional terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

    The groundbreaking alliance will provide Bungie its first such partnership since splitting off from Microsoft in 2007, significantly broadening its global reach by providing the resources and support to develop, distribute and release games worldwide on multiple platforms and devices.
    Activision will broaden its portfolio with a new franchise from one of the industry's most creative, successful and proven studios, whose games have sold more than 25 million units worldwide. To date, Bungie's Halo games have generated approximately $1.5 billion in revenues, according to The NPD Group, Charttrack and GfK. Activision expects this agreement to be accretive to its operating margins as of the release of the first game.

      Αυτά είναι, Masterchief σαν playable class στο World of Warcraft.

      Είδα ένα όμορφο σχόλιο στο Authority, πως είναι η απάντηση στην απώλεια της Infinity Ward. Πέρα από αυτό ελπίζω σε μια ανανέωση της σειράς Myth, για να ξαναπαίξω strategy games.

        Αυτά είναι, Masterchief σαν playable class στο World of Warcraft.
        Το Halo είναι ιδιοκτησία της Microsoft σαν franchise. Άλλωστε ήταν γνωστό πως μετά το Reach η Βungie θα σταματήσει να ασχολείται με τη σειρά. Οπότε multiplatform Halo δεν υπάρχει περίπτωση να δούμε.

          Υπηρχε πλανο παλια για Halo MMO οποτε ισως τωρα στην Activision δουμε καποιο αλλο νεο mmo fps, ενδιαφερον θα ειχε.

            Εγώ απλά ελπίζω να δούμε κάτι διαφορετικό από ένα τόσο ταλαντούχο στούντιο και όχι κάτι που μας έχουν ξαναδώσει.

              Το MMO του Halo ήταν να το φτιάξει η Ensemble και ήταν 3rd person, σαν το WoW (δηλαδή η Bungie δεν είχε σχέση).
              Όπως και να' χει, πέρα από την ομάδα που φτιάχνει το Reach, έχει αφοσιωθεί ένα τμήμα της Bungie στη δημιουργία της ιστορίας και του σύμπαντος ενός άλλου παιχνιδιού, νέου.
              Τώρα, η είδηση του ότι η Bungie ετοιμάζει παιχνίδι πέραν του Halo είναι σίγουρα εξαιρετική, και θα ήθελα (αν και δε πρόκειται να πραγματοποιηθεί βέβαια) το Reach να είναι το τελευταίο Halo, τουλάχιστον για τώρα, γιατί κάποια άλλη ομάδα δε πρόκειται να βγάλει το ίδιο αποτέλεσμα, και ίσως να καταντήσει Crash Bandicoot.

                    Μία πολύ ενδιαφέρουσα συνέντευξη του joystiq.com με την Bungie η οποία μιλάει για τα σχέδια της στο μέλλον , την συνεργασία με την Activision καθώς και για το αν θα επηρεαστεί η όχι το Halo : Reach από αυτή την συνεργασία...

                    Εγώ θα κρατήσω τα εξής σημεία :
                    As far as looking into the future and our next big IP, we did talk to Microsoft as well as some other publishers and, like Joe said, ultimately after all discussions were said and done, Activision was really the only publisher that ultimately met all of the conditions and things that were most important to us. And we get to own the IP, we're still independent, we have creative control, and Activision brings to the table the ability for us to explore multiple platforms and multiple devices, which, to us, is a very exciting prospect as we look to broaden our audience and share our new universe and stories with as many people as possible.
                    there will be a plan put into place to make sure that the Reach experience of the Halo fans continues to get the support that they're used to and is expected to come with the game
                    So being able to sit down at your desk and imagine what might happen five years from now, eight years from now, whatever the dates end up being, that's extremely empowering, as a story-teller. It really gives us the freedom to think long and to think big about the stories that we want to tell. And that's extremely exciting
                    And again, you never really know what's going to happen in the industry: which platforms might change and which new devices might come to market.                       Καταρχας burai respect για το avatar!

                      Στο θέμα μας τώρα η bungie έκλεισε φοβερή συμφωνία! Οποιοδήποτε παιχνίδι θα βγάλει για τα επόμενα 10 χρόνια θα τα κάνει publish η βρωμοactivision αλλά παρολα αυτά παραμένει ανεξάρτητο studio (δλδ χωρις τις πίεσεις και της προθεσμιες που θέτει ο εκαστοτε publisher) και το ποιο σημαντικο τα πνευματικά δικαιώματα των παιχνιδιών που θα δημιουργήσει ειναι 100% δικά της και ουδεμία σχέση θα έχει ο publisher. Οτι δεν έγινε δλδ με το halo καθώς παροτι παιδί της bungie η ip ανήκει στην MS.
                      Τέρμα λοιπόν τo halo για την bungie (για τα επόμενα 10 χρόνια τουλάχιστον) και ευκαιρία για την εταίρεια να ασχοληθεί επιτελους με κάτι διαφορετικό.

                      H συζητήσεις με την bungie είχαν αρχίσει πριν απο 9 μήνες οπότε καμια σχεση δεν εχει η "διαλυση" της ΙW με την συνεργασία bungie-activision.

                        Aπορώ γιατί λέτε "η Βungie πρέπει να ασχοληθεί επιτέλους με κάτι διαφορετικό", γιατί πρέπει;; λες και το Halo sucks και πρέπει η εταιρεία να κάνει κάτι άλλο. Αν δεν έφευγε η Bungie από την Microsoft σίγουρα θα συνέχιζε να φτιάχνει Halo games και αν αυξανόταν σε άτομα θα έκανε και κάτι νέο. Η τύχη του franchise, ως προς την ποιότητα, δεν είναι πια και τόσο σίγουρη. Επειδή είμαι και καμμένος, είναι σαν να λέμε πως δεν θα φτιάχνει πια τα Metal Gear η Konami αλλά κάποιος άλλος developer.

                        Το authority λέει πολλά σωστά αλλά και πολλές βλακείες.

                          Μα ετσι ειναι. Καθε εταιρεια πρεπει να μενει στα σιγουρα και να μην φτιαχνει κατι νεο. Ας γεμισουμε με sequels για τα επομενα 10 χρονια.

                            Μπορει να τα κανει και αλλη ομαδα τα Halo, επισης σε κανενα studio δεν αρεσει να κανουν τα ιδια και τα ιδια, ουτε η Bungie ηθελε να κανει αλλο Halo ουτε η Infinity Ward ηθελε αλλο Modern Warfare (και ειδαμε τι εγινε), ανθρωποι ειναι κι αυτοι.

                              Δεν είπα κάτι τέτοιο. Είπα τα "διαμάντια" πρέπει να συνεχίζονται αλλά ταυτόχρονα να βγαίνουν και νέα "διαμάντια". Αυτό ακριβώς κάνει και η Sony με τα franchise της. Από το playstation ακόμη, έχει συνεχίσει ως το ps3 αρκετά franchise της, αλλά έχει δημιουργήσει στην πορεία άλλα τόσα. Και στο κάτω κάτω οι fans του κάθε τίτλου θα δώσουν τέλος στην συνέχεια της ύπαρξης του ως franchise. Όταν το βαρεθούν τελείως δεν θα συνεχίσουν να το αγοράζουν και το franchise θα σταματήσει. Στην περίπτωση του Halo ή του Metal Gear κάτι τέτοιο όχι μόνο δεν φαίνεται (ο κορεσμός από τους fans) αλλά αντιθέτως σε κάθε νέο τίτλο Halo ή Μetal Gear που ανακοινώνεται γίνεται πανικός.
