New Super Mario Bros. Wii Review: Go Buy A Wii

The ability to play the same game, same worlds, same courses either on your own or with one to three others makes New Super Mario Bros. Wii feel more like two games instead of one. That mostly because while playing through the game with friends there are a whole new set of rules that come into play. Players can jump in and out of bubbles, they can pick one another up either to work as a two-person team or toss each other to their deaths, they even have a special new attack, a simultaneous ground pound that defeats all of the enemies on-screen on the ground. The addition of these new moves and the dynamic of being able to be friendly or hostile at any given time gives the game a completely different feel when played as a group.

αλλα καθε mario στηριζεται (κυριως της main σειρας στην εκαστοτε home κονσολα) σε κατι που το κανει να ξεχωριζει απο τα προηγουμενα και ετσι καταφερνει να ειναι παντα φρεσκο (και να διατηρειται τοσες δεκαετιες ενα τοσο παλιο franchise με 10δες τιτλους )
και αυτο νομιζω οτι αυτο ειναι το χαρακτηριστικο του nsmb.

Εγω το φανταζομαι και λιγο σαν το lbp αλλα τεσπα ισως ειμαι και λαθος
αλλωστε δεν ειμαι και ο πλεον αρμοδιος να μιλισω για μαριο

Δε θα το λεγα βασικο χαρακτηριστικο, θα το λεγα σημαντικοτερη προσθηκη σε σχεση με τα προηγουμενα Mario. Σιγουρα και χωρις του Multiplayer θα το λιωνα το παιχνιδι. Αλλα τωρα με 4p βλεπω μεγαλυτερο καψιμο. Μακαρι να μπορουσα να το τελειωσω ολο σε multiplayer αλλα κατι τετοιο δεν ειναι ευκολο, θα ηταν ομως αν ειχε online.

ο συγκεκριμενος τιτλος εχει το multiplayer ως το βασικο του χαρακτηριστικο

Και απο την στιγμη που εχει co-op(και στηριζεται πανω σε αυτο) το οτι δεν υποστηριζει online ειναι σημαντικο μειον

Ultimately, though, the greatest compliment you can pay NSMB Wii is that it feels like the perfect expression of the classic Mario style: It's the true sequel to Super Mario World we've been clamoring for all these years.

I really, really like New Super Mario Bros. Wii. I have no qualms with saying this is a far better game than the Nintendo DS version, and it could easily be the finest Super Mario Bros. 2D platformer Nintendo's ever created. You should absolutely get a copy, no question.

While New Super Mario Bros. Wii is the second Mario platform game offering for the Nintendo home console, it pales in comparison to the looks of the first game: Super Mario Galaxy. This new Mario for the Wii features the usual bright colors and cartoon look of the series, but it lacks the sharpness and detail that Galaxy showed off. Sound is more a collection of nostalgia-inducing music and noises from previous Mario games than anything groundbreaking or new, including sounds from the 8-bit era, such as the distinctive noise made when Mario first grabs a super mushroom.

Ακομη και το 8.9 του ign ηταν αρκετο για να αρχισουν τη γκρινια τα fanboys. Εν τω μεταξυ ο Craig εξηγησε πολυ καλα γιατι εκοψε βαθμο.

But, and it's a big "but," Nintendo did not use this opportunity wisely. For as big a project as this could have been, this game's impact is weakened by many factors. It plays it safe with established gameplay with very little in the way of new innovation. It also lacks online multiplayer in a generation where such a feature is expected.

"...better then New Super Mario Bros DS," yet the score is significantly below it, kinda weird. It's all find and good though if this is Craig's opinion, but the direction IGN has been taking in general is a bit unsettling. I'm really tired of seeing games that clearly benefit from local multiplayer getting hammered for the exclusion of online, but games like GTA 4 which got a perfect score doesn't have any local multiplayer and no one complains. And when you're not able to "gush" over just another great Mario game, then maybe gaming journalism is changing a bit for the worse.

I never comment on this site. With that, Craig Harris, you need to question yourself as a gamer and critic right now. I'm not saying your score is wrong; I haven't played the game to say that. However, the fact that you even mention online play here is completely outrageous and something that needs to be excluded from Wii reviews. Not only do Mario players not really care about online play, it's more of a hassle to play the Wii online then it is to find three friends to play the game. "Good" run-throughs of Mario levels do not really exist, not in a fashion that needs replay. I bet there aren't even more than 10 games on the more powerful systems that can do this. Stop reviewing Nintendo games, you honestly fail and don't deserve your spot on the team. Go back to DS, or do something else.

Screw IGN.. Bunch of tards. I haven't played this game but after that COD Reflex review I simply cant trust them.. Maybe Microsoft slipped the critics a check. i don't know. I heard from others that this may be one of the greatest Mario games ever made... No Mario game (besides sunshine) deserves anything below a 9. period. Not because im a big N fanboy, but because Mario games have absolutely destroyed every other attempt in the platforming genre. I have seen how much time was put into this beast from video.. it looks amazing with tons of secrets and awesome skill challenges. IGN is falling apart. I know this game is going to be one of the most entertaining games of this generation. giving it an 8.9 is just retarded. It doesn't matter this game is going to sell 30 million copies.
