Final Fantasy XIII Ships 1.8 Million Copies in Japan

Were you worried about Square Enix undershipping the well desired game, resulting in lower sales? Well, worry not! Square Enix decided that the initial shipments of 1 million toward release, 150k on release day, and another 150k over the weekend are hardly enough and could hurt the games launch sales... shipping 1.8 million instead, as announced by Square Enix CEO, Yoichi Wada, today at the game's official countdown launch event in Tokyo.
Those numbers include both regular copies and those marvelous Lightning PS3 bundles.
Also, it's important to note an interesting fact... the ratio of PS3's in Japan to shipped games is almost 2:1! How amazing would it be if the game had a complete sellthrough? Think about almost 50% of a certain userbase owning ONE particular game... oh, wow. I think the one that comes closest to this is Halo 3, with almost 30% of Xbox 360 gamers owning the game. I should also note Wii Sports - with a higher attach rate than both, but a whole different case behind it...
Note: Some blogs are already reporting the game selling out at several locations, according to FFXIII.net.

Final Fantasy XIII was released in Japan yesterday. A day later, Square Enix have released figures revealing how many copies of the game were sold during its first 24 hours on the shelf. And that number has "exceeded one million". Which, well, makes it sound like they sold between 1 and 1.1 million. The news was disclosed in a statement released by Square Enix today, which also states that copies of the game sold bundled with a PS3 - as part of the "Lightning Edition" - were not included in that figure. If you account for those, the figure would be slightly higher.
Square Enix said yesterday that two million copies of the game had been shipped to retailers.

Final Fantasy XIII Causes PS3 Sales Surge in Japan


System has best week ever as FFXIII tops the 1.5 million mark.

December 21, 2009 - As reported last week, Final Fantasy XIII instantly became the PS3's top selling game over in Japan. Instantly, as in on the day of its release.

An even better indication of the game's success came today from Enterbrain, which provided first week sales data for the game. For the four days covering the 17th through the 20th, FFXIII sold 1,516,532 units. This figure includes both standalone and PS3 hardware bundle versions.

To put this in perspective, the system's previous best selling game was Metal Gear Solid 4, with just over 700,000 units sold life to date. The PS3 hardware itself only recently reached the 4 million mark, meaning FFXIII was bought by more than 33% of its userbase.

Enterbrain also reports a surge in PS3 hardware sales, presumably due to FFXIII. Last week, PS3 sales jumped to 245,406 units. This is the new high mark in weekly sales for the system, easily outclassing the 150,000 that sony sold when the PS3 slim saw release in September.

Final Fantasy sales tend to be front loaded, dropping off quickly after a huge initial few weeks. But the timing of FFXIII's release makes it a prime candidate for the New Years gift season. Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada previously said that he was aiming to reach the 2 million mark with the game. This looks like a definite possibility.

Λολ τα FF πάντα ήταν noob friendly... Το ΧΙΙΙ πάντως λένε ότι είναι το πιο δύσκολο FF.

Δεν είδα κάτι που δεν ήξερα, αντιθέτως πολλά πράγματα που έχω διαβάσει από εδώ και από εκεί δεν αναφέρθηκαν. Σίγουρα όμως ένα in-game footage μετράει . Μου θυμίζει πάρα πολύ το FF X ρε γμτ και αυτό δε με χαροποιεί ιδιαιτερα. Ας μην προδικάζουμε όμως, ο Μάρτιος είναι κοντά .
