PS4 to use Gaikai for instant demos, UStream multicasting, social gameplay

David Perry, CEO and founder of Gaikai, took the stage at today's PlayStation 4 announcement to reveal new details on the next generation of Sony's PlayStation Network and Gaikai's integration into the service.

Perry said the PS4's version of the PlayStation Network will be the "fastest gaming network in the world."

Sony will use Gaikai's streaming technology to offer instant demoes through the PlayStation Store, Perry said. With Gaikai in the PlayStation Store, you'll be able to try anything instantly, Perry explained. "Simply press the X button to hop in and start playing the game," Perry said. "With Gaikai, you'll be able to instantly experience anything you want."

Using a Share button on the PlayStation 4, players will be able to share their gameplay experiences through networks like Facebook and UStream.

"By combining the PS4, the PlayStation Network, and these social platforms, our goal is to become the social platform for gaming."

Perry touched on real-time streaming of PS4 games, "allowing your friends to look over your shoulder virtually while playing."


Perry even promised that players will be able to ask a friend over the internet to take over their game, should they find themselves in a rough spot in a game. Perry teased a "director" mode for games, letting other players interact with your game by dropping you health, maps and other items over the internet.

Sony acquired Gaikai for $380 million in 2012. In July, Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House said the addition of Gaikai technology would "deliver a world-class cloud-streaming service" with a "broad array of content ranging from immersive core games with rich graphics to casual content anytime, anywhere on a variety of internet-connected devices."

Update: Shuhei Yoshida, president of Worldwide Studios, Sony Computer Entertainment, tells Polygon that Sony is "highly recommending" that PS4 games support streaming play through Gaikai as players download titles, but that the feature isn't a requirement.

θεωρω to streaming το 'the next big thing'' στο συγχρονο gaming , κατι που αρχισε κυριως απο esports τα προηγουμενα χρονια απο πλατφορμες οπως το own3d και στο twitch.tv σημερα, ηρθε η ωρα να εξαπλωθει και να γινει mainstream δυνατοτητα/υπηρεσια σε κονσολες,

να δούμε αν θα έχει cross platform και κοινό auction house, αυτό βέβαια ίσως προυποθέτει οι του ps4 να έχουνε την δυνατότητα να μπαίνουν battlenet

επίσης έχω περιέργεια να δω πόσο άμεσα και λειτουργικά θα είναι τα controls με gamepad, σίγουρα δεν πιστεύω να έχουνε την ίδια ταχύτητα και ακρίβεια με τον συνδιασμό πληκτρ.+ποντίκι.

Blizzard Entertainment has announced it’s bringing Diablo III to both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 through a “strategic partnership” with Sony, through which they “will take over the world.”

Blizzard is developing an “intuitive control scheme” and “new dynamic camera perspective” that aims to “make questing and combat in the world of Sanctuary feel like second nature on PlayStation platforms,” as well. The game will offer single-player, four-player online, and local co-op modes.

Μια χαρα θα ειναι, απο την αρχη κονσολάδικο φαινοταν το παιχνιδι. Το θεμα ειναι ποσοι που ενδιαφερονται δεν το εχουν ηδη παιξει στο pc.?? Μιλαμε για release 2 χρονια μετα+, αν loggareis με το Bnet λογικα θα ειναι cross platform αλλα δεν λεει κατι και παλι.

Σε ποιο pc ; στο laptop μου με τίποτα πάντως

Ναι μονο εσενα, Αν θελουν να τα βγαλουν σε κονσολα εχει καλως ποιοι θα τα παρουν ομως απο τη στιγμη που τρεχουν μια χαρα σε μετριοτατο pc(και εχουν ολοι πλεον) και εχουν βγει εδω και κατι χρονια.. Μη μου πειτε για καναπεδες ποπ-κορν, optimization και ιστοριες ε.. Επισης το controller δεν μου αρεσει καθολου ιδια αβολη θεση στους αναλογικους και χαλασαν και το concave style που το προτιμουσα απο του 360.

Στα αλλα killzone και FF ειναι λογοι αγορας για εμενα και μου φανηκε αρκετα ενδιαφερον το PS4 ειδικα αν εχει και καλη τιμη αλλα εχουμε ακομα δρομο μεχρι να δουμε περισσοτερα..

Tο MMO για να παιξει σωστα θελει ποσα κουμπια, δυσκολο για κονσολα imo, ενω το diablo θα παιζει οκ..

Επισης οταν ελεγα στο VS topic για τα exclusives του pc, ΜΜΟ/starcraft/d3 etc. κανεις δεν ενδιαφεροταν για τα genres, τωρα που πανε στις κονσολες οπως φαινεται θα υπαρξει ενδιαφερον??
