Τιτλοι τελους για το MGC

Μια από τις μακροχρόνιες και πιο χρήσιμες υπηρεσίες, στην ιστορία της Κοινότητας του Xbox 360, σταμάτησε σήμερα τη λειτουργία της, έπειτα από έξι συνεχή χρόνια προσφοράς. Σύμφωνα με τον ιδρυτή της, Jason Young, που ανακοίνωσε και τον τερματισμό της υπηρεσίας, "η Microsoft έχασε την αγάπη της για την Κοινότητα", παραθέτοντας αναλυτικά τους λόγους που τον ανάγκασαν στην εν λόγω απόφαση του.

To Guardian Heroes έρχεται αναβαθμισμένο στο XBLA!!!

Sega is bringing an enhanced version of Treasure's Saturn beat-em-up Guardian Heroes to Xbox Live Arcade this fall, complete with enhanced HD graphics, online cooperative play, and an online versus mode supporting up to 12 players at once. Rejoice!

Xbox Live Marketplace experiencing outage

The Xbox Live status page (and our own abortive efforts to download stuff) reveals that the Xbox Live Marketplace is currently experiencing an interruption in service.

According to the site, "users may experience difficulties" browsing Xbox Live Indie Games, the Games Marketplace, or the Games for Windows Live Marketplace from either an Xbox or a PC. It's more than "difficult" -- in our case, at least, the XBLIG page returns no results at all.

Given recent history, it's tempting to jump immediately to topic of hacking. However, there's no evidence of that, so we're going to assume the blame lies with molemen instead. Molemen are stealing our Marketplace access.

Update: Microsoft sent Joystiq a statement attributing the outage to "an internal operational error," which it is working to resolve "as quickly as possible." You can find the full statement -- which does not confirm or deny the involvement of molemen -- after the break.

Πρόσληψη 14χρονου hacker από την Microsoft

Η Microsoft προσλαμβάνει 14-χρονο ο οποίος κατάφερε να κάνει hack το Call Of Duty.

Οι hackers συνήθως ανθούν σε ηλικίες μέχρι περίπου τα 20 τους, αλλά... η Microsoft φαίνεται ότι βρήκε έναν νεαρό με μέλλον, ο οποίος κατάφερε να της χακάρει το Call Of Duty.

Αφού λοιπόν ο 14-χρονος Jake κατάφερε να χακάρει το Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 εγκαθιστώντας μια ρουτίνα phising στους servers του παιχνιδιού η Micrrosoft είχε την επιλογή είτε να τον διώξει νομικά, είτε να εκμεταλλευτεί τα ταλέντα του.

Η Microsoft στα έμπειρα χέρια του προσωπικού της θα καταφέρει να μετατρέψει το ταλέντο του νεαρού Jake σε κάτι νόμιμο έτσι ώστε και προβλήματα με τον νόμο να μην αντιμετωπίσει στο μέλλον, αλλά και χρήματα να βγάλει χάρη σε αυτό του το ταλέντο. Εννοείται πως και η εταιρεία θα επωφεληθεί από ένα χαρισματικό άνθρωπο.

A representative from Microsoft wrote in to argue that this story, despite being heavily reported and reproduced, is false. Microsoft's statement: "The comments attributed to Microsoft Ireland's Managing Director Mr. Paul Rellis, when speaking at a business event in May, are inaccurate. He never said anything close to what was being reported in some Irish media. Microsoft can also confirm that the company has not offered to mentor or hire a 14-year-old from Tallaght who purportedly was related to a phishing scheme."
