Η Ubisoft "έριξε" τα γραφικά του Watch Dogs στα PC!

Για να προωθήσει την έκδοση των κονσολών! Σύμφωνα με μαρτυρία του χρήστη Jibbed στο forum του NeoGaf που εντόπισε ο αναγνώστης μας Σταύρος Δήμου, η Ubisoft φέρεται να μείωσε εσκεμμένα την ποιότητα γραφικών στην έκδοση του Watch Dogs στα PC.
Θα θυμάστε ενδεχομένως ότι στην E3 2013 είχαμε παρακολουθήσει ένα άκρως εντυπωσιακό βίντεο αλλά στην πορεία ορισμένα gameplay videos μας απογοήτευσαν. Τελικά η γαλλική εταιρεία ευνόησε την next-gen έκδοση των PS4 και Xbox One, σε αντίθεση με την PC version στην οποία αφαίρεσε αρκετά οπτικά εφέ.
Παρόλα αυτά, ένας modder άρχισε να ξεκλειδώνει τα "κρυφά" graphics options του παιχνιδιού, ενώ αποκάλυψε ότι έχει δημιουργηθεί με τεχνητό τρόπο μικρή πτώση στο frame rate και stuttering, στοιχεία που παρατηρούνται ακόμα και στα πιο δυνατά συστήματα. Όλα αυτά έχουν "διακόπτη" on/off! Με το mod που κυκλοφορεί πλέον τα γραφικά του παιχνιδιού γίνονται καλύτερα ενώ ταυτόχρονα το παιχνίδι ελαφρύτερο.
Σαν να μην έφταναν όλα τα άλλα, ο modder βρήκε σε αρχείο κώδικα του παιχνιδιού την ειρωνική φράση "This is PC only, who cares" η οποία απλά δυναμιτίζει περισσότερο την όλη κατάσταση. Το μοτο αυτό μπορείτε να το δείτε στη σειρά 51 του αρχείου με τον κώδικα του shader.
H Ubisoft έχει πολλά να εξηγήσει, αν και κάθε εταιρεία έχοντας ως άλλοθι την πειρατεία, πλέον χρησιμοποιεί κάθε τρόπο για να περισσώσει τις πωλήσεις των κονσολών. Απ' την άλλη κάθε PC gamer που αγόρασε το παιχνίδι αυθεντικό (πράγμα σπάνιο αφού ακόμα και blockbuster PC games πουλάνε κάτω από ένα εκατομμύριο) έχει κάθε λόγο να διαμαρτύρεται.

Rumor: Tekken 7 May Be Coming To PC, Amazon Lists PC Version

Great news for all PC fighting fans as it seems that Tekken 7 may be coming to our platform. We’ve heard a number of rumors these past days and today Amazon.co.uk listed the PC version of this upcoming fighting game.
Amazon was quick to react and took down Tekken 7′s pre-order page, however NeoGAF’s member ‘Horseress’ had already captured a screenshot from the game’s pre-order page.

Microsoft job listing says nice things about PC gaming, isn't clear if it means them

Over the past few years, Microsoft's behaviour in regards to the PC gaming has more closely resembled a teen high-school drama. One minute he's—Microsoft is a he in this analogy, just roll with it—he's inviting us to the prom, saying we're the prettiest platform around. The next, he's run away with the console market. Sure, he still calls to tell us that we mean the world to him, but we don't really believe him at this point, do we?


Well, not really, no, but that doesn't mean Microsoft doesn't see the potential of the PC as a platform. In fact, they've outlined its dominance in a new job listing, advertising a Business Development position overseeing games on PC, mobile and tablets.


"51% of all time spent gaming is on PCs - more than on consoles and mobile devices combined," states the listing. "PC gaming itself is projected to make $25 Billion in 2014, growing 13% year over year. Across the Windows platform, including phones, tablets, and PCs, Microsoft is uniquely positioned to change the world of gaming."


Okay, yes, you'll have spotted the problem already: Microsoft are listing the PC side-by-side tablets and phones; something that continues later in the role's description. "You are the epicenter of the mobile and PC games strategy," it states, "bringing together teams across Microsoft and the field to drive flawless execution, in addition to integrating deeply with the Xbox team."


What does it all mean? Everything? Nothing? Their strategy is one that, from the outside, seems impenetrable. They didn't close Games for Windows: Live, but seemingly only to support those games that didn't bail. They say things like, "we remain committed to investing in PC gaming in the years ahead, and look forward to sharing more in the future," but are providing no hints as to what that commitment might mean. Are they interested in targeting "core" gamers, or will they stay firmly in the casual?
I hope it's the former, because Microsoft had a genuinely strong line-up over E3. Chris has already made the case for Halo's PC return, but there are plenty of upcoming exclusives that would feel right at home here. (I'm looking at you, Forza Horizon 2.) The reference to integrating with the Xbox team could be a sign that Microsoft's biggest games will be crossing over.


It would be nice to think that this is a sign of change, but let's be honest: we've been hurt before.

Nvidia Geforce GTX 880 3dMark Benchmark Surfaces – Nearly 35% More Powerful Than the 780

Maxwell GTX 880 Gets Alleged 3dMark Fire Strike Benchmarks – Impressive Results

If you look very closely at the picture you can barely make out the “GT 8″. If you look even more closely, you can spot one half of the second 8 following the first. So the alleged benchmark run is clearly of a GTX 880. Now some users in the forum were commenting on whether this could be the mobile variant of the GTX 880. Well, I think, there is a reason the original user so conveniently put in the CPUZ shot, something that wasn’t really required. So that we can readily deduce it as a desktop variant. The i7 4770k is the Haswell LGA 1150 CPU and is most certainly not found in any notebook. There is a 0.1% chance that the mobile variant was being tested but I think we can safely ignore that possibility.

The Maxwell GTX 880 in this particular 3D Mark benchmark boasts a very impressive result of 6110. Since the GTX 780 scores around the 4500 Mark and the GTX 780 Ti scores around the 5000 Mark, this is impressive performance. Comparing it to its predecessor, the GTX 780 we see an almost 40-35% power jump which is quite decent. Now about the screen shot itself. One of the first thing to look for in obvious fakes is artifacting around the result area. The user posted a good resolution image and I could find no presence of any compression artifacts or bad Photoshop. So this seems to tilt towards an authentic screenshot. Of course if someone asked me to get an authentic looking fake out. I would SLI some lower end cards so I get a score of 6k, then Photoshop the name and selectively blur the same out. That way, there would be no fake-ness about the score and the name (where tell tale signs could lie) would be conveniently blurred. But this guy probably didn’t do that and this benchmark run is probably legit.

Dota 2 Workshop Tools Alpha Released - Custom Maps and Mods



Today, we are announcing the Alpha release of the Dota 2 Workshop Tools. This is the first release of a new set of tools to create, play, and share custom maps and game modes for Dota 2. This is a developer focused release and currently has high system requirements which means not everyone will be able to run the tools. At the moment the tools require a 64-bit version of Windows and a Direct3D 11 compatible GPU. We are working on expanding the number of PC configurations (including 32-bit OSes like Windows XP) that will be able to run this but wanted to get the tools out there so developers could start working on their Custom Games. Δεν ξερω, θα ηθελα να ξανασχοληθω για λιγο με wow αλλα να δωσω 40€ για το παιχνιδι και μετα να πληρωνω και την συνδρομη? Αμα ηταν μονο η συνδρομη θα επαιζα.
Εβαλα το trial για το mists of pandaria (σταματησα στο cataclysm) και παιζω λιγο αυτες τις μερες, ισως το παρω μιας και εχει πεσει στα 10ε και βαλω και εναν μηνα και μετα βλεπουμε, αλλα μετα παει το backlog xD
