Όσοι πήρατε το Cave Story από το Humble Bundle, έχετε στην ουσία δύο εκδόσεις του παιχνιδιού. Η Steam έκδοση περιλαμβάνει δύο soundtracks (παλιό και νέο), ενώ η έκδοση που μπορείτε να κατεβάσετε από τα download links που σας έστειλαν στο mail σας, περιλαμβάνει τρία soundtracks (παλιό, νέο και Remastered που χρησιμοποιήθηκε στην 3DS έκδοση). Μπορείτε να το περάσετε στο Steam manually (Add a non-Steam game to my library) αλλά δεν υποστηρίζει achievements. Με ένα πρώτο άκουσμα πιστεύω πως το Remastered soundtrack είναι καλύτερο, επομένως χρησιμοποίησα την standalone έκδοση του παιχνιδιού αντί του Steam.

Tip. Αν το παιχνίδι δεν κάνει launch, προσπαθήστε να πάτε στις ιδιότητες της κάρτας γραφικών σας --> πηγαίνετε στις 3D gaming ρυθμίσεις --> απενεργοποιήστε το Triple Buffering. Έχει συμβεί σε πολλούς και λύνεται με αυτόν τον τρόπο.

Dear Esther is a ghost story, told using first-person gaming technologies. Rather than traditional game-play the focus here is on exploration, uncovering the mystery of the island, of who you are and why you are here. Fragments of story are randomly uncovered when exploring the various locations of the island, making every each journey a unique experience. Dear Esther features a stunning, specially commissioned soundtrack from Jessica Curry.

Forget the normal rules of play; if nothing seems real here, it’s because it may just be all a delusion. What is the significance of the aerial – What happened on the motorway – is the island real or imagined – who is Esther and why has she chosen to summon you here? The answers are out there, on the lost beach and the tunnels under the island. Or then again, they may just not be, after all…

Strange Loop Games' first release, the physics puzzle platformer Vessel, has finally been dated; it will be available on March 1 for $14.99 via Steam and the developer's official site. Vessel has been pushed back to "TBA" status for XBLA and PSN.

We've already learned about the different liquids that will be manipulated to solve puzzles. Now, in the above video, we learn about the Fluros. They also require different liquid; with it, they grow to be crazy-looking, animated creatures that have unique abilities to operate machines. This is conjecture, but I hope Earth or we humans don't end up being the vessels for these automatons!

Vessel didn't quite make its 2011 release date, but it has received some polish since last covered. However, that polish wasn't simply visual aesthetics. Shares Strange Loop Games co-founder John Krajewski, "With Vessel, we wanted to push the boundaries of how hardware power is used in games. Typically, hardware power put towards graphics and physics is only an aesthetic addition. In Vessel, the foundation of the gameplay and puzzles is based in liquid simulation."

The four-person Brisbane, Australian based Hitbox Team has released its combo-filled clean-em-up plaformer, Dustforce, on Steam for Windows. As an acrobatic janitor, players will leap and dash off walls and ceilings and traverse 50 precarious environments varying in difficulty. Dustforce has online leaderboards, online replays, and four-player local multiplayer modes like King Of The Hill and Survival for "loads of dust-cleaning fun."

Dustforce has already won the hearts of judges, earning an Honorable Mention for art at this years' Independent Games Festival and the Grand Prize at indiePub's Independent Developer Competition in 2010. The coming weeks will tell if it wins the hearts of consumers, too.

While Dustforce is now available via Steam for $9.99 (with 10% off) for Windows only, an update for Mac and Linux is planned to come soon. Right now the team has no plans for a stand-alone version, but Desura publishing is a possibility.

Ένα επίσης indie παιχνίδι(?) που θέλω να του ρίξω μια ματιά είναι το To The Moon:

Ένας τίτλος που από gameplay δεν έχει να δείξει σχεδόν τίποτα και βασίζεται κυρίως στο story telling κομμάτι του.

Αρχικά θα καταβέσω τα free games της εταιρίας που κυμαίνονται στο ίδιο μοτίβο και αν μου αρέσουν θα αγοράσω και το ακριβούτσικο(10 ευρώ) To The Moon

Κι εμένα μ' ενδιαφέρει το Dear Esther. Έχει την ατμόσφαιρα του Penumbra. Θα το κατεβάσω κάποια στιγμή, γιατί τώρα θέλω να κατεβάσω ένα PS3 indle game, αλλά δεν θυμάμαι ποιό(!).

Το έχω τερματίσει το παιχνίδι αυτό. Το προτείνω σε όλους. Είναι ένα 2d adventure που βασίζεται στην ιστορία και θα πρότεινα να μην διαβάσετε τίποτα για αυτήν πριν δοκιμάσετε το παιχνίδι. Είναι indie φτιαγμένο στο rpg maker.

Δυστυχώς δεν το έχω αγοράσει. Δεν ξέρω καν πόσο έχει. Το είχα βρει τυχαία σε μία άλλη ιστοσελίδα. Αν υπήρχε κάπου retail θα το αγόραζα σίγουρα.

Το παιχνίδι είναι σχετικά μικρό, περισσότερο 6-7 ευρώ θα το αξιολογούσα και όχι 10. Αλλά είναι από αυτά τα, σχετικά λίγα, παιχνίδια που σου μένουν όταν τα τερματίσεις. Αλλά οποσδήποτε το προτείνω, η ιστορία του είναι πολύ καλή. Δεν λέω τίποτα γιατί δεν θέλω καθόλου να spoil-άρω.

Το the moon παιδιά έχει αποσπάσει πολύ καλές βαθμολογίες από τον τύπο.όλοι λένε ότι το παιχνίδι έχει μια από τις καλύτερες και πιο συγκινητικές ιστορίες των τελευταίων ετών.Σίγουρη αγορά για εμένα στο μέλλον.Η αλήθεια είναι ότι 10 ευρώ είναι κάπως πολλά αλλά από ότι λένε τα αξίζει.

Ναι καλά διαβάσατε. Κυκλοφόρησε ένα δωρεάν παιχνίδι ονόματι MAri0, όπου ο μουστάκιας έχει portal gun και λύνει γρίφους. Εδώ είναι το link που είδα την είδηση...

Θεόκουφο.

Υπάρχει κατά πώς φαίνεται ενας παρωδός του Molyneux στο Internet, o Molydeux, ο οποίος γράφει στο twitter ανάλογες κουφαμάρες με αυτές που αμολά ο γνωστός developer. Το θέμα είναι πως η πλάκα και οι κουφαμάρες φάνηκαν τόσο ενδιαφέροντες σε εργάτες της βιομηχανίας που...

όταν, μια μέρα που ο ειδησεογράφος του Giant Bomb, Patrick Klepek και η Anna Kipnis, gameplay programmer στην Double Fine, αστειεύονταν στο Twitter, η ιδέα δεν άργησε να πέσει στο τραπέζι, έστω και στην πλάκα: τι θα γινόταν αν οργανωνόταν ένα game jam (μια συγκέντρωση game developers, που θα δοκίμαζαν να φτιάξουν παιχνίδια από το μηδέν μέσα σε 48 ώρες – δηλαδή, σαν μουσικοί που “τζαμάρουν”), βασισμένο στις παλαβές ιδέες του λογαριασμού του Peter Molydeux; Η πλάκα σύντομα εξελίχθηκε στο Molyjam 2012, ένα παγκόσμιο event που προσέλκυσε πάνω από 1000 game developers σε εκδηλώσεις που διεξάχθηκαν παράλληλα σε περισσότερες από 20 πόλεις ανά τον πλανήτη, το περασμένο Σαββατοκύριακο, όπου σχεδόν 300 παιχνίδια δημιουργήθηκαν από την αρχή.

Δημιουργήθηκαν λοιπόν πάνω από 260 (ω ναι) παιχνίδια με απίστευτες ιδέες, εννοείται ημιτελή και απλά σκαριφήματα, αλλά με τρομερό ενδιαφέρον. Ο ίδιος ο Molyneux πέρασε από το event και είπε κάποια πράγματα. Ακολουθεί link με όλα τα παιχνίδια.
