Επίσημο το Crimson Dragon για το Kinect

Σε πρόσφατο event για τη 10η επέτειο του Xbox 360 στην Ιαπωνία, o δημιουργός του Panzer Dragoon, Yukio Futatsugi, έδωσε στη δημιοσιότητα το τελικό όνομα του Project Draco, νέες εικόνες καθώς και μερικές πληροφορίες για αυτό. Ο αποκλειστικός XBLA Kinect τίτλος αναπτύσσεται απο την Grounding -που αποτελείται απο μέλη της Team Andromeda (Panzer Dragoon Saga) και της Land Ho.

Και θα κυκλοφορήσει το 2013, σύμφωνα με συνεργάτες της Microsoft

Σύμφωνα με ρεπορτάζ του βρετανικού MCV, η επόμενη κονσόλα της Microsoft θα κυκλοφορήσει χωρίς drive για DVDs, καθώς εδώ και καιρό η εταιρεία ενημερώνει τους συνεργάτες της γι' αυτό. Οι ενημερώσεις έχουν σταλθεί με το πιό αυστηρό Non disclosure Agreement (εμπάργκο) που έχει δει ποτέ η πηγή, που αναφέρει το MCV. Παρόλο που η κονσόλα δε θα έχει υποδοχή για οπτικά μέσα, θα υποστηρίζει κάποιου είδους media αποθήκευσης με μια solid stade κάρτα μνήμης ή με απλές SD cards να φαντάζουν πιθανές λύσεις. Περαιτέρω, μια ημερομηνία κυκλοφορίας για το Project Durango μέσα στο 2013 έχει επιβεβαιωθεί από το εν λόγω ρεπορτάζ, ενώ είναι αβέβαιη η ακριβής ημερομηνία κυκλοφορίας από πλευράς της Microsoft.

Αν τα παραπάνω γίνουν πραγματικότητα, τότε ο αμερικανικός κολοσσός θα σημάνει μια νέα εποχή για τις οικιακές κονσόλες, πλήττοντας ταυτόχρονα -την ήδη πληγωμένη- αγορά λιανικής. Εν ολίγοις, η κατάργηση των φυσικών media από μια τόσο μεγάλη εταιρία, είναι άσχημα νέα από οποιαδήποτε οπτική γωνία και αν το δούμε.

Αν η φήμη βγεί αληθινή, τότε θα πατώσει σίγουρα. Θα είναι ένα τεράστιο πλήγμα όχι μόνο για τους συλλέκτες, αλλά και για τους δημιουργούς, επειδή θα είναι μόνο ψηφιακά και μόνο από την ίδια εκδότρια, την Mon€¥$o£t. Η αισχροκέρδεια στο μεγαλείο της.

Xbox 720: Blu-ray inside, always-on netcon required

Xbox 720 has been fully detailed to some third-parties, VG247 has learned, and has been slotted in for a Christmas 2013 release. And yes: of course it’ll have a Blu-ray drive.
VG247 has learned that Microsoft has now detailed Xbox 720 to certain partners and has internally confirmed the machine for a Christmas 2013 release.
The next generation Xbox will have a Blu-ray drive, contrary to a recent report.
Multiple sources have confirmed this morning that the machine will have two GPUs. One said: “It’s like two PCs taped together.”
We’re waiting for final confirmation of specs, but the graphics cards are thought to be equivalent to AMD’s 7000 series GPUs, but “not CrossFire or SLI”. The GPUs aren’t structured as they are in a normal dual PC set-up, in which the two chips take it in turns to draw lines of the same object: Xbox 720′s graphics units will be able to work independently, drawing separate items simultaneously.
It was reported last week that PlayStation 4, internally codenamed Orbis, will also be powered by AMD hardware.
There will be “four or six” cores to the Xbox 720 CPU, one of which will be reserved for Kinect and one for the OS.
Xbox 720 will require an always-on internet connection as an anti-piracy measure.
We’ve also been told that the next generation of Kinect will be built into the device as standard.
The details have emerged in the wake of a hastily removed tweet from Sean Tracy, a technical designer for Crytek, that said he was attending the “Durango summit” in London at the end of February. Durango is though to be the codename for the console.
Microsoft is not expected to announce anything pertaining to its next machine until next year.
Many developers have been posting job openings for “next-gen” and “future-gen” systems for months.
Lionhead and Bethesda are just two of the latest.

A 56-page, detailed report, the document lists a 2013 release for Xbox 720 and “Kinect V2,” which it claims is necessary due to the likelihood of declining Xbox 360 sales next year, the launch of “gen 8 consoles” from Sony and Nintendo, and “new threats” from Apple TV and Google TV.

It cites Xbox 360′s limitations as “no full fidelity AAA Games + Kinect V1 sensor,” no support for a full range of XTV platform scenarios, lacking modern entertainment capabilities (“Blu-ray, Native 3D,” and “2x1080p in/out”), and the inability to run “multiplexed or concurrent applications and services.”

As far as what Xbox 720 will include, it says it will boast six times the performance of Xbox 360, and have a “native XTV/video STB,” “V1/V2 Kinect sensor processing,” “connectivity for glassses/sensors/peripherals,” “dedicated resources for next gen gameing,” “dedicated resources for Xbox 360 gaming,” and “true 1080p and full 3D.”
