Sega, Capcom & Namco Team Up for Project X Zone, A Strategy RPG Crossover

Remember that tri-company collaboration between Sega, Capcom and Namco Bandai for the Nintendo 3DS? Turns out it's called Project X Zone, a single-player strategy role-playing game that features a broad array of characters from series like Resident Evil, Virtua Fighter, Xenosaga, Mega Man and Valkyria Chronicles.

Japanese mag Famitsu has first details on the game, which appears to be a 2D game featuring team-based combat. In one shot, Ken and Ryu from Street Fighter battle a Tyrant from Resident Evil. In another, Toma from Shining Force EXA, Sega's Ulala and Opa-Opa from Fantasy Zone gang up on a Space Channel 5 Morolian. It doesn't look wildly different from a previous Namco Bandai crossover, Namco X Capcom for the PlayStation 2.

According to details translated by Andriasang, Project X Zone is slated for release on the Nintendo 3DS (in Japan) later this year. Given some of the relative obscurity of some of the game series featured in PXZ, like Sakura Wars, Shining Force and Super Robot Wars, a release outside of Japan might be a little surprising.

Metal Gear Solid 5 could be set in Africa, star baby Snake

New instalment to take place in the 70s with Big Boss, predicts PSM3

n a 10-page feature, Metal Gear series expert Dan Dawkins provides forensic analysis of the Metal Gear timeline, while piecing together over 12 months of Kojima's cryptic tweets, a raft of existing clues and all the 'Next MGS' imagery to date.
The most obvious clue about 'the next MGS', comes from the recent Kojima Productions GDC recruitment advert, where a picture of Big Boss (the hero of Metal Gear Solid 3 and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker) is accompanied by the call to arms, "Big Boss Wants You!". The Kojima Productions site itself 'hides' another image of Big Boss with a 'Diamond Dogs' logo on his shoulder, which Dawkins claims is a reference to both the 1974 David Bowie album Diamond Dogs (Kojima being a confirmed Bowie fan), but, more importantly, the diamond mines of Angola, against which some of the action could be set.
Previously, characters such as Frank Jaeger aka Cyborg Ninja and Big Boss himself have all been revealed as having links to the continent via countries like South Africa, Rhodesia (neé Zimbabwe) and Mozambique, further reinforcing Africa's importance to MGS canon.
