Όσο για τις φημολογίες περί PS1+PS2 emulators for PS3 αληθεύουν και θα χαρώ να πάρω και τους 2 emulators για να μπορώ να παίξω χαλαρά και παλιών κονσόλων παιχνίδια που δεν είχα καν την ευκαιρία και μετά θα πουλήσω και τις παλιές κονσόλες σε retro τιμές...

Και Evans επειδή είδα δεν έχεις παίξει τα Yakuza παιχνίδια, θα σου πω κι ένα hint... Τα Yakuza έχουν γραφικά και σενάριο ίδια σαν του Shenmue... Εγώ έχω το Yakuza 2, αλλά δεν θα το παίξω αν δεν πάρω πρώτα το Yakuza 1 για να πάρω μία γεύση αυτής της ιστορίας !

Digi-Guys tell Gabe Newell, “PS3 Hype was right!”

Digi-Guys, the developers behind WarDevil, seem to have a lot to say when it comes to the PlayStation 3 and the process of developing for the console’s architecture. In a recent interview with Edge Magazine, Andy Whitehurst, founder and senior GC artists, revealed some of the brighter points of developing on the PlayStation 3 as the lead platform for their upcoming title, WarDevil.
“
Sony’s hype was right,” said Andy Whitehurst, before claiming that the PS3’s Cell chip is the future of HD gaming as a whole.
“It’s advantageous for our thought process. There’s better filtering on the Xbox 360 but the whole thing comes together better on PS3,” he added while discussing the pre-calculated texture system that the project uses, “it gives us the ability to have an enormous amount of textures on-screen, at a fidelity we can use in 35mm or 65mm formats without altering them.”


“It’s not dissimilar from many normal industry practices,” adds Whitehurst, “but we pushed it in another direction by holding colour, grading, lighting, diffuse, specular and even bump maps in a single PCTS [pre-calculated texture system] data structure. This information lets us separate it into separate channels for complex effects.”


The bottom line is, Digi-Guys are pretty much letting Gabe Newell and other anti-PlayStation 3 developers know that the console’s architecture IS the future of gaming and that you should probably get used to it. Not only is the hype right, but it will be the foundation of HD gaming for years to come.

WarDevil to boast “Hollywood-grade” visuals at 60FPS

Edge magazine recently released some new tidbits of information from the guys over at Digi-Guys, developers behind the PlayStation 3 title, WarDevil. While some may have thought this title was headed to vaporware, there is reason to believe that this game was shown behind closed doors in Tokyo and left the media very impressed.
Digi-Guys are boasting WarDevil as a title that will deliver 1080p visuals running at a smooth 60FPS. Below is an excerpt from the magazine article.


“WarDevil’s stake in the ground is its commitment to deliver ‘Hollywood-grade’ visuals: 1080p at 60 frames a second, with no compromise on the fidelity of its high-resolution textures and a suite of filtering effects. Remarkably, it looks as if it might just achieve it – with a version of the software having already been running smoothly on an original Xbox since 2006. It’s now leading on PS3 and being shown in closed-door sessions at TGS, the demo we saw seeming to prove that though the game itself is currently out of focus, the tech behind it already appears to be sharply defined.”


From the sounds of it, WarDevil is shaping up to be quite the incredible title. The question remains, how long until the public gets their first look at the behind closed doors offering.

Rumor: Mass Effect 2 Bound to PS3

With no confirmation whatsoever from Bioware, GAME, a major game retailer from Australia has a listing for Mass Effect 2 for the PlayStation 3. There’s been rumor that Mass Effect titles will be ported to the PlayStation 3 but up until now, no official confirmation. Whether or not this is true is truly up to Bioware if they ever decide to put it on the PlayStation 3. As of now, we will have this as a rumor.
Mass Effect 2 is slated to come out early next year for the XBOX 360 and PC early next year. Stay tuned for more developing news on Mass Effect 2!
[UPDATE] Russian EA Official Website shows that Mass Effect 2 will be indeed coming to the PlayStation 3 as well. We will contact Bioware on Monday to get confirmation but we’re expecting denials until then.

Resistance 3 billboard spotted

I saw this billboard today in Shreveport, Louisiana. There are a lot of movies filmed here, and this one is about some sort of alien takeover of Los Angeles; the name of the film escapes me at the moment. Snapped off a few photos of the billboard since I wasn't sure if the game had been announced yet or not. If not, then I'm surprised Insomniac would be announcing it here of all places.

PS3 exclusive ‘Exodyssey’ emerges

It’s not often that I stumble upon a game that i’d previously not heard about before, but today has brought details of a new Playstation 3 exclusive title called ‘Exodyssey.’ A collaboration from developers Steambot and Bluepoint (who some may be familiar with from their previous work on the PSN title, Blast Factor), all that has been seen from the title is a conceptual real-time demo are a couple of screenshots, and a teaser trailer full of artwork.




On Steambot’s blog, back in July, they state that “We are now looking for a publisher and potential investors to start working on this next action-adventure AAA title. Bring it on!” Hopefully since then they have been able to find a publisher, especially since the line up of concept artists include those that have worked on such titles as Assassin’s Creed, Deus Ex 3, Far Cry 2, Myst IV Revelation, Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell, Turok Evolution and more… it’s certainly impressive!

Federal government using PS3 to crack pedophile passwords

Though they aren't using the new PS3 Slim (since you can't install Linux on the new models) purchasing 20 old PS3 units is still about $8,000 cheaper than the Dell servers C3 had used previously. The unorthodox console approach has been so effective that agents are scouring eBay to find the best deal on another 40 consoles to round out their collection.



"Bad guys are encrypting their stuff now, so we need a methodology of hacking on that to try to break passwords," Claude E. Davenport, an agent in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Cyber Crimes Center, told the Scripps reporter. "The Playstation 3 - its processing component - is perfect for large-scale library attacks."

Unfortunately for federal investigators, the consoles are strictly for work use only. "There's no controllers hooked up," claimed Davenport. Guess that means no Uncharted 2 at work after all.
